Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today released the following statement after voting to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security:

“Fully funding the Department of Homeland Security is critical to our national security. Public safety should never be used as a pawn in a partisan political game. The bill passed today will provide more stability to an agency that is tasked with the vital role of protecting our homeland. Particularly in this time of increased global threats, Congress must provide the resources necessary to those who are charged with keeping the American people safe.”

The bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security funds the agency through the end of Fiscal Year 2015 (September 30, 2015), and passed with a vote of 257-167. The bill will now go to President Obama for his signature.
