Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Focuses on Technology and Innovation in Recognition of National Entrepreneurship Week
Honolulu – Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today issued the following statement in recognition of the 8th Annual National Entrepreneurship Week, which is celebrated from February 15 - 22, 2014.
“National Entrepreneurship Week is a great opportunity to show appreciation for the innovators and small business owners of our generation—those who are fueling the growth in our economy,” said Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. “This morning, I hosted a ‘Tech Hub’ roundtable with local tech leaders, and we discussed how to promote Hawai‘i as a 'Startup Paradise' so that local innovators and entrepreneurs are set up for success as they start businesses and create jobs. We have so much talent and creativity right here in Hawaiʻi; this is what makes me optimistic for our future.”
Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is actively working with Hawaiʻi students and educators to encourage their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. Earlier today, she hosted an “Hour of Code” computer programming class for students at Nanakuli High School. The congresswoman is also hosting the first-ever House STEM App Challenge, which gives Hawaiʻi high school students the opportunity to create software applications, or “apps,” for mobile devices.
