Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Facebook: National Wildlife Refuges

December 18, 2017
Press Release

"Hawai‘i is home to 10 unique wildlife refuges, like stunning Kīlauea Point on #Kauai, Hakalau Forest on #Hawaii Island, and Keālia Pond on #Maui. In these protected habitats, native Hawaiian plants and animals, including the ae‘o, Hawaiian hawksbill turtles, ‘alae ke‘oke‘o, Hawaiian monk seals, and so much more, grow and thrive. We must continue to protect and preserve our 'āina so future generations can enjoy the treasures of our islands and other beautiful ecosystems across the country. Today, we passed legislation to do precisely that by reauthorizing the volunteer services, community partnership, and refuge education programs of the National Wildlife Refuge System."
