Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Facebook: Deborah Sampson Act

November 7, 2017
Press Release

"Nearly 345,000 women have served under the American flag in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yet, when they return home, they face a country and a VA that is ill-equipped to meet their needs. Female veterans have lower rates of access to the VA and receive lower quality of care, despite facing higher rates of PTSD, military sexual assault, and exposure to trauma, unemployment, and homelessness. Our veterans put their lives on the line for our country, and we have a responsibility to care for them when they return home. As we observe #VeteransDay, we must take action.  Congress needs to pass the Deborah Sampson Act (H.R. 2452) to address the gender disparities at the VA and ensure that our more than two million female veterans across the country-including 14,000 female veterans in Hawai‘i-receive the  quality care they have earned and deserve." - TG
