Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Announces Oahu, Kaua‘i Events Next Week Highlighting Educational, Economic Opportunities in Hawai‘i

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today announced her public Hawai‘i meetings next week on Oahu and Kaua‘i. She will visit with local organizations that are promoting educational and economic opportunities for Hawai‘i’s keiki and families.

DETAILS:

Monday, August 19: Oahu

1:15 p.m.: Tour the new UH Cancer Center and learn about the facility’s capabilities and the educational opportunities available to UH medical students.

            Where: 701 Ilalo Street, Honolulu (behind the John A. Burns School of Medicine)

3:15 p.m.: Meeting with the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities to discuss its initiatives to promote K-12 educational programs, family empowerment initiatives.

            Where: 3599 Waialae Avenue, Room 25

6:30 p.m.: Deliver keynote remarks and present certificates to 41 graduates at the 3rd Annual National Job Corps Commencement Day. The Job Corps provides academic and career preparation for economically disadvantaged youth so they develop the skills to become employable and financially independent.

Tuesday, August 20: Kaua‘i

5:30 p.m.: Deliver keynote remarks at the Hale Opio Board of Directors annual meeting, and meet with local community and government leaders. For youth and families on Kaua‘i, Hale Opio provides residential and community programs to improve behavioral health and juvenile justice services.
