PHOTOS: Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Visits The Big Island, Holds Constituent Meetings

Honolulu – Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today visited Hawai'i Island and discussed environmental and transportation policy during meetings with local officials, met with the Kealakehe High Robotics Team about their PISCES Lunar Project, saw the Holualoa Elementary students robotics class in action, and sat down with Sherry Bracken for a radio interview about ongoing veterans issues, challenges in Washington, and working with young leaders in Hawai'i.
As part of her scheduled March District Work Period, Congresswoman Gabbard will be conducting district meetings and visits all this week.
A schedule of Congresswoman Gabbard’s meetings from today is below:
Meeting with Wally Lau, County of Hawaii Managing Director
Congresswoman Gabbard met with Wally Lau, County of Hawaii Managing Director, to discuss issues such as the Keauhou Aquifer System, the need for a Customs facility to open Kona Airport to international flights, and other transportation-related needs. 
Meet and Greet with Kealakehe High Robotics Team & Holualoa Elementary Faculty, Parents, & Students
Congresswoman Gabbard attended Kealekehe High School’s robotics team presentation to the Holualoa Elementary School faculty, parents, and students. Kealekehe High School was selected to participate in Pacific International Space Center for Explorations Systems (PISCES) Lunar Project. The lunar project was a project collaboration with NASA and the Google XPRIZE team to “fly a dust experiment to the moon.”  She also saw the Holualoa Elementary students in action, as they programmed their robots, getting ready for their first competition. 

Meeting with Chauncey Wong-Yuen, Hawaii District Airports Manager
Congresswoman Gabbard met with Hawaii District Airport Manager Chauncey Wong-Yuen to discuss Kailua-Kona Airport’s request to house a complete U.S Customs facility service. Honolulu International Airport is currently Hawaii’s only port of entry open to international travelers.
Radio interview with Sherry Bracken
Sherry Bracken today interviewed Congresswoman Gabbard about how issues with veterans care are being addressed, the Keahou Water Aquifer issue, and mentorship for Hawai'i Island's young leaders of tomorrow.
