Press Release

Today on Hawai`i Island, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) recognized National Museum Week by touring the historic grounds of Hulihe`e Palace in Kailua-Kona. Once a summer vacation home for Hawaiian royalty, today Hulihe‘e Palace is a museum showcasing artifacts from the era of King Kalākaua and Queen Kapi‘olani. The Palace is one of three restored Palaces where Hawaiian royalty once lived, and which today serve as historical museums.
The Congresswoman also hosted a “Tulsi In Your Town” meeting to provide legislative updates, answer questions, assist with federal agency casework, and listen to constituent concerns. The congresswoman discussed the urgent need to provide funding to combat the spread of the Zika virus, the challenges that still remain in improving veterans care, passing the Native Hawaiian Education Reauthorization Act, and her passion for protecting our environment.  She also answered questions about student debt, climate change, small business growth in Kona, and more.
