WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 9th, 2018 - Congressman Mike Gallagher and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard are joining a high-profile list of speakers for the Unrig the System Summit, the premier nonpartisan event to fix America’s broken political system. This will be the largest gathering of political reformers in decades.

The first-of-its-kind summit will be held in New Orleans, from February 2-4, 2018, at Tulane University. Advocacy leaders, grassroots activists, celebrities, academics, philanthropists and journalists from across the political spectrum will come together to discuss practical solutions related to money in politics, gerrymandering, voting, Citizens United, transparency, ethics, and more. The Summit will feature panels and workshops on policy, campaign strategy, and communications, and will showcase performances from the country’s top entertainers in music and comedy.

Gabbard and Gallagher will be joining Nina Turner, President of Our Revolution and Former Ohio State Senator, and Zach Wamp, Co-Chair of Issue One ReFormers Caucus and Former U.S. Representative from Tennessee, on a plenary panel titled “Reform Across the Aisle”, to discuss the growing movement for reform across the aisle and how it’s essential to our future.

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been a champion for political reform throughout her career, and recently announced she would no longer be accepting contributions from PACs.

“The American people are frustrated with the current state of politics in our country. Too many politicians are more interested in serving themselves and their political parties, than the people they are elected to represent. Hyper-partisanship along with the corruptive power and influence of big money special interests drives the agenda in Washington DC, which ultimately threatens our democracy,” said Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. “We must end pay-to-play politics, put partisan bickering aside, and ensure we have a government of, by, and for the American people.”

Congressman Mike Gallagher and a group of 17 other House lawmakers recently launched the Congressional Reformers Caucus. The founding members have pledged to work across the aisle to restore trust in democratic institutions.

“We have an historic opportunity to make common sense changes in this country,” said Representative Gallagher. “Congress desperately needs reform to limit the power of special interests. Only by working together in a transparent manner will we renew the American people’s trust in government.”
