Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard made it clear on Thursday that she wants the state to delay lifting the 14-day quarantine for travelers.

She spoke to KITV4 citing the spike in coronavirus cases and the shortage of testing capability here in Hawaii and across the country as reasons behind her stance.

"The number one thing that we need to see in order to responsibly reopen travel into our state is to have a massive testing and tracing capability, which means you've got to be able to get those test results back very quickly. Waiting 10 days to get results back defeats the whole purpose of contact tracing and testing," Congresswoman Gabbard said.

Congresswoman Gabbard wants the travel quarantine to remain in place for the time being, while the state focuses on containing the virus.
