On Wednesday night, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and Hawaiʻi State House Representative Andria Tupola hosted a Town Hall meeting in Nanakuli to address long-standing transportation issues that affect residents of the Waianae Coast every single day. Farrington Highway is the only way in and out of the community, and time and time again, it has been partially or completely shut down due to accidents, severe weather, flooding, fires, and other emergency conditions.

Congressman Takai is one of just a few public servants who have lain in state at the Hawaiʻi Capitol, including Governor John A Burns, U.S. Senator Spark Matsunaga, U.S. Congresswoman Patsy Mink, U.S. Senator Hiram Fong, and U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye.

The ceremony recognized Maegan Barlow, the Director of the Office of Radiological Services (OSR) at DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), for OSR’s work to enhance the security of high-risk radioactive materials in Hawaiʻi over the past decade.
