Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Announces $1.3 Million Grant to Support Maui Family Support Services’ Early Head Start Program
Honolulu — Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today announced the winners of the inaugural Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academic Competition, “The House STEM App Challenge.” She congratulated first-place winner Tiger Oakes from Hawaiʻi Island (left) and runner-up Christopher Kim from Maui (right) for the innovative phone and tablet applications – or “apps” – they created to participate in the district-wide competition, which included submissions from across the state.
Honolulu, HI – This morning, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) presented Megan Matsuoka from Baldwin High School with the Congressional Arts Award for her mixed media piece, “Take Off,” which earned first-place in the contest and will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol alongside winners from all other congressional districts. The congresswoman hosted the awards ceremony at the State Capitol and honored Hawaiʻi art students from across the state.
Bill also authorizes funding to combat the devastating impact of the coffee berry borer
