Washington, DC—This morning, following a special ceremony held for Rep. Mark Takai yesterday in the U.S. Capitol’s Statuary Hall, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) led 18 other Members of Congress in a Special Order of speeches on the House floor honoring the late U.S. Congressman Mark Takai. For nearly an hour and a half, Members shared their memories and experiences with Rep. Mark Takai, honoring his more than two decades of service to Hawaiʻi and our nation. Many Members also wore aloha attire and leis to honor Rep.
Honolulu, HI—Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) announced today that she is currently accepting nomination request letters from individuals in Hawai‘i’s Second Congressional District to the U.S. Service Academies for the classes entering in the summer of 2017. Applicants can request a nomination form here. The deadline for completed files is October 31, 2016.
Washington, DC—Today, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) introduced a House resolution (H.Res.841) honoring the late U.S. Congressman Mark Takai. Today is the first day that Congress is back in session since the passing of the congressman on July 20, 2016. The resolution passed the House unanimously this evening. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard also led members in a moment of silence on the House floor to honor the late Congressman and his family.
Washington, DC—Today, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) joined hundreds at the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront Park to welcome the Hōkūle’a as it came down the Potomac River to Washington, DC. The congresswoman toured the Hōkūle’a, welcomed the crew and all those present for the arrival ceremony, and enjoyed music and dance presented by local hālaus and the Piscataway Conoy Tribe of Maryland.
