WASHINGTON, D.C.- The House of Representatives unanimously passed the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act (S.1555), sponsored by Senator Mazie K. Hirono and Representative Tulsi Gabbard. The U.S. Senate unanimously passed the bill in July, which recognizes Filipino soldiers who fought under U.S. command during World War II.
Honolulu, HI—At the Interisland Terminal of the Honolulu International Airport this morning, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) joined the Nisei Veterans Legacy Center and Department of Transportation officials at the unveiling and blessing ceremony of a new permanent exhibit celebrating Hawaii's Nisei veterans.
A 911-texting service is being launched for the state of Hawaii.
“The text-to-911 service provides practical mobile emergency communications,” Hawaii Gov. David Ige said at press conference Thursday. “This can be important to the disadvantaged community, the disabled, deaf and hard of hearing. Hawaii is proud to join six other states that have deployed this service across the country.”
Washington, DC—Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) announced today that 14 Hawaiʻi Health Centers will receive a total of $753,064 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support health information technology (IT) enhancements. The funding is part of more than $87 million provided by HHS to 1,310 health centers in every U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin.
