More on Kaua‘i Updates
#Kauai and #Oahu residents: TODAY is the final day to register for federal assistance with any losses from the April rain, flooding, and landslides.
"Today marks 2 years since we bid farewell to a dear friend. My heart is with the Takai ‘ohana - his parents Naomi and Erik, his wife Sami, and children Matthew, and Kaila - as we remember my friend, colleague, and fellow soldier, Mark Takai. Always ready with a smile and a deep belly laugh, Mark’s heart of aloha guided him throughout his life of service. Mahalo Mark for the lasting impact that you made with your life, for sharing your aloha with us, and for dedicating your life in the service of the people of Hawai‘i and our country."-TG
The Trump administration has expanded its response to the April flooding on Kauai and Oahu to include federal disaster assistance for individuals.
The action comes after the state revised its application for assistance to cover people who previously had not been included in its count of those affected by the flooding.
Washington, DC—Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) released the statement below following the announcements that Kaua‘i and Oʻahu will receive federal support through the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) and the Department of Labor (DOL) to assist with ongoing recovery efforts from record breaking floods, landslides, and more in April 2018.
