More on Kaua‘i Updates
Honolulu, HI—Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today released the statement below following the passing of U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka:
Below is a message from Rep. Tulsi Gabbard presented at the 2018 Kauaʻi Kūhiō Day Celebration:
Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana’ole was born 146 years ago tomorrow. It was a time that was so different from what we know today. It was a simpler time when families often connected around a camp fire to talk story about their day and less about texting, tweeting, or engaging in our smart phones. But it was also a time of rapid change from centuries-long traditions that were exciting for some but may also have been devastating for others.
Ho'omaika'i to Larry LaSota, this year's Hawaii Red Cross- Kauai Volunteer of the Year! Larry has truly gone above and beyond in answering the call to serve, and his work to improve the safety, preparedness, and well-being of our Garden Isle community has directly contributed to the success of the Red Cross, not only on Kauaʻi, but across our islands.
Ho'omaika'i to the veterans of the Kauai High School Class of 1968 who recently celebrated their 50th Class Reunion. We as a nation have been kept safe through their actions of selfless service, vigilance, and loyalty that epitomize what is means to be an American. Mahalo nui loa to each of these veterans for their untold acts of valor, bravery, and countless sacrifices, and for their continued service!
Washington, DC—Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today voted to pass the FY 2018 omnibus spending package that funds critical investments and programs in Hawai‘i and across the country.
