Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) this morning attended the National American Indian Housing Council Conference and spoke to attendees from Hawai‘i and across the country about reauthorizing the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA).
Today in Pahoa, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) has been on the ground and in the air with Hawaiʻi Island Mayor Billy Kenoi as they inspect the progress of the Kilauea Lava Flow, assess the damage it has caused to Pahoa property and infrastructure, and offer support to area residents and business owners. They toured the path of the lava flow by helicopter from the vent to the tip, and then walked from Pahoa Town to the edge of the lava flow on Mel Sugimoto’s property, where the lava has already destroyed parts of his macadamia nut field and is less than 100 yards from his home.
Washington, DC — Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today announced that President Obama has issued a Federal Disaster Declaration for the State of Hawaiʻi, which allows the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to move forward with releasing federal dollars to assist people in Hawaiʻi to recover from the devastation of Tropical Storm Iselle.
