The U.S. House of Representatives approved more than $4.7 million for the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Volcano Hazards Program to be included in an appropriations package tonight.  

This funding would allow for the staff on Hawaii Island to relocate their office which was badly damaged by seismic activity from the ongoing Kilauea eruption and forced to close, Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced today.

WASHINGTON – Today, Hawai‘i’s Congressional Delegation urged President Donald Trump to act swiftly on Governor David Ige’s request for individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Hawai‘i Island residents whose homes have been lost or damaged due to the ongoing Kilauea Volcano eruptions.
