U.S. Surgeon General Urges Holiday Weekend Precautions

The U.S. Surgeon General and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services today released a public service announcement (PSA) ahead of the Fourth of July weekend imploring Americans to take action and to remember: COVID Stops With Me. The PSA from Surgeon General VADM Jerome M. Adams, M.D., M.P.H., reminds everyone to do their part to stay healthy by following a few simple instructions, including frequent handwashing and physical distancing, that will in turn help prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

IRS COVID-19 Tax Relief for Qualified Low-Income Housing and Residential Rental Projects

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Internal Revenue Service today issued Notice 2020-53 (PDF) to provide tax relief to issuers, operators, owners, and tenants of qualified low-income housing projects or qualified residential rental projects financed with exempt facility bonds, and state agencies that have jurisdiction over these projects. For certain time-sensitive actions scheduled to be performed and requirements to be met on or after April 1, 2020 and before December 31, 2020, owners and operators now have until December 31, 2020 to perform the actions and satisfy the requirements. VA Continues to Reinstate In-Person Services

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced today, as of mid-June, more than 100 VA medical facilities and medical centers (VAMCs) have reinstated at least one in-person service within their direct health care delivery system after certain services were temporarily on hold or reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more about this and VA services during the COVID-19 pandemic at VA.gov.
