CDC Helps People Prepare for Hurricane Season Amid COVID-19

 
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its hurricane preparedness webpage to account for making sure you are prepared and safe this hurricane season during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It covers preparedness, public disaster shelters, how to stay safe after the hurricane hits, and even information for professionals and response workers. You can read more here.

Testing in Hawai‘i — Since yesterday, there were a total of 4 new cases and 0 additional COVID-19 related deaths. To date, there are 685 individuals in Hawai‘i who have tested positive for COVID-19. Of the 685 cases, 17 have died, 85 required hospitalization and 622 have been released from isolation. There have been 65,852 diagnostic tests conducted as of today.
 
As a result of updated testing information, one case was removed from the counts.
 
Summer Program News — The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is excited to announce a modified version of Summer Fun will be held this year. The program will be offered at no charge to O‘ahu families with Mayor Caldwell waiving the fees for the summer day camp. The modified Summer Fun Program will be offered on weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Wednesday July, 1 through Tuesday, July 28 (excluding the holiday on Friday, July 3). Children must be six years old before Aug. 1, 2020 and not older than thirteen years old by July 28, 2020 to qualify. The modified Summer Fun will still utilize Junior Leaders. Also, the Hawai‘i Department of Education (HIDOE) has provided information about schools that will be providing summer school via distance learning. Registration for all of these sites is closed. Additional summer learning opportunities may be available at other HIDOE schools, please feel free to contact schools directly for more information. Check out its webpage to view the list and get more information about this and other summer learning opportunities and resources, including this flyer.
 
Mental Health Resources — The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has placed a lot of stress on our society, both individually and as a community. These stresses range from physical health dangers and complications to the economic strain that many face due to stay-at-home measures that have impacted businesses and workers. These may also have significant mental health impacts on you or someone you know. The best thing to do is to be aware of what the warning signs are and what resources are available to help.
