COVID-19 Coronavirus Response Update

June 3, 2020
This afternoon at 4:00 p.m., I will be hosting my next telephone town hall meeting where we will be joined by employment attorney Darin Leong as well as Sondra Leiggi-Brandon, APRN, and Anthony P. Guerrero, M.D., from Queen’s Medical Center. We will discuss the latest news about federal relief efforts to help Hawai‘i as well as the mental health stress faced by many during this public health crisis and what resources are available to help those in need.
If you have not already signed up for my tele-town halls, you can still listen in live today at 4:00 p.m. by going to my website, gabbard.house.gov/live.
If there are any issues that we can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to call me at (808) 541-1986 or email me at TulsiOffice@mail.house.gov.
Mahalo and be well,

IRS Encourages Non-Filers to Register for EIP

With 159 million Economic Impact Payments (EIP) processed, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reminds many low-income Americans who don't usually file tax returns to register for a payment by October 15. Millions of low-income people and others who aren't required to file a tax return may be eligible for an Economic Impact Payment and can easily register for a payment by using the free Non-Filers tool, available only on IRS.gov.

Tax Deadline Approaches, July 15

In March, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) created the People First Initiative to help people facing the challenges of COVID-19 issues. The program is a series of steps to assist taxpayers by providing relief on a variety of issues ranging from easing payment guidelines to postponing compliance actions. With the extended tax filing deadline fast approaching, if you are facing such challenges, please check out the IRS People First Initiative webpage for more information.
